Our Story
The first Kyoto Katsugyu shop opened in Ponto-chō (先斗町), a historical district in Kyoto that is famous for its perservation of traditional Kyoto culture. It is also very hard for restaurants to set foot in that district, but Katsugyu did it!
We believe that with the impeccable taste, along with our fiery Kyoto spirit, Kyoto Katsugyu will make GYUKATSU a standard Japanese dish just like sushi, ramen and tempura one day in the world!
Design Concept
We will never forget where we came from - the beautiful & historic city of Kyoto. We incorporate various Kyoto elements & culture into our designs & branding. The warm Japanese lanterns, the traditional noren curtains of Ponto-cho, and the Kyoto dialect we use to welcome you. When you step into our shop, we hope that not only do we bring the most authentic GYUKATSU to you from Kyoto, but the city too.
Logo's Story
Traditional Japanese calligraphy and art are also a big part of our design and branding. Nothing can replace the beauty of the calligraphy strokes and traditional water color painting. We believe culinary is also a form of beauty, and every GYUKATSU we serve conveys the Kyoto spirit just like the powerful imageries we wish to show the world!
